Leann Simon is Miss Point Fortin 2005.  Leann, who was earlier adjudged winner of the "Pointalive.com People’s Choice" was also the popular choice amongst patrons on the night of the show, which was held at the Point Fortin Senior Secondary School on Friday 29th April.  Directed by Arthur Lewis, the show featured performances by former Image & Co. vocalist, Kees Dieffenthaller, local folk choir Maisha Zuri, comedian Damien Melville, the Clico Shiv Shakti dancers & others.

 From the word go, support

for Simon was most evident, with about half the entire audience cheering her on. Some of her fans even walked with placards which happened to be unusual for a show of this nature.

Kereen Mohammed and Tessa King were the first and second runner-up respectively.

Earlier, there were some disappointments as the show was totally sold out and scores of would-be patrons had to be turned back because they were not in possession of tickets.

Pointalive.com understands that Fire Services personnel warned the pageant organizers about overcrowding.  This led to the decision not to allow persons without pre-paid tickets entry.  This was a shift in procedure from previous years.

Pointalive.com spoke to Leann after the show and had five questions for her.

Five questions for Leann

Now that you have won the pageant, is there anyone you would like thank?
Most definitely, I would really like to thank my all my supporters including my WASA colleagues.

Do you think that having prior knowledge of winning the “Pointalive.com People’s Choice” boosted your confidence?
Absolutely! Having prior knowledge of winning the Pointalive.com prize and the overwhelming support from fans contributed a lot to my confidence boost.
I must admit that I was surprised at the support received.

What, in your opinion, contributed the most to your victory?
The support I received boosted my confidence which contributed to me not making any mistakes on stage.

Prior to the show, you stated that your mother was the person you most admired; was she there to witness your victory?
Most present, she even came on stage after the announcement was made.   I was happy.

 What's next for Leann?
I intend to enter the Miss Trinidad & Tobago Pageant and continue in the fashion industry. I view this pageant as being the beginning of things to come.
