IS PAULA GOPEE PROPER FOR POINT?

In the continuing drama which is the screening process for candidates to contest the upcoming elections, it is now reported in the daily news that Paula Gopee is tipped to contest the Point Fortin seat for the PNM.

As we understand it, Paula is an offspring of the Gopee family which once owned a popular business in Point Fortin.  However, Ms. Gopee is reported to be living in Westmoorings and is out of touch with her former deep south community.

Pointalive.com will like to find out if you think that Paula Gopee is best suited to represent Point Fortin?

MORE POINTS FOR POINT

"Nor am I surprised that Arthur is a Point Fortin feller, Point being something special as a Trini place, its migrant population (Grenada, St Vincent, Barbados, the whole West Indian wherever) making for something of a merry mix (Duke who wrote Nelson's "King Liar" and his own "Freakin' Streakin" from there), per capita, I often swear, the biggest football and kaiso catchment in the world - Warren Archibald, Steve David, Arnim David, Leroy de Leon, Delbert Charleau, Wilfred Cave, Monty Douglas, Winty Hackett and 'bout a hundred others, and more from there. And now with a Miami Heat ball court in the offing, complete with all the hoop-la, don't be surprised if, in a generation or two, "Point" belches out the best basketballers......... ENTERTAINING ELECTIONS

Discarded Pt Fortin MP
Lawrence Achong

Well the election bell has been officially rung and Trinidad & Tobago is now on the home stretch towards what maybe described as the most interesting or entertaining elections of recent times. With three major parties contesting, the voting public seems bewildered as to where to throw their support.  While traditionally, voting has been along the lines of ethnicity and this may still be this way, one politically party seemingly appears to be bridging the divide

LOOK WHO CROSSED 50 BRIDGES
EARL JEFFREY CELEBRATES

He needs no introduction as his presence precedes his arrival through the sounds of rattling rhythmic iron synchronizing to some sweet soca music.  However, on his birthday, Earl Jeffrey or Peck-Earl as he is known, was not the entertainer as we all have come to know him, on this occasion he was entertained.  In a thanksgiving celebration held at the Techier Community Centre the master iron-man was treated by his friends and family.  No need to mention the perpetual bar and engine room which was featured for this occasion.

ARTHUR BRINGS MIAMI HEAT TO FANNY VILLAGE

Remember the "Deal or No Deal" episode when Point Fortin's Arthur Joseph was a contestant and he made the decision to accept the re-furbishing of basketball court Miami Heat style in his home land?  Well that deal came through.  Pointalive photographer Devon Byron was on hand to capture the ceremony for the reopening of the basketball court.

WOMEN: CATALYST FOR SOCIAL CHANGE?

This week I would like to extract your views relating to the role of our women as it deals with support for their spouses.  Many brothers claim that whenever they attempt to make positive sacrifices, they are always faced with opposing comments from their companion.  E.g. A brother wants to venture into a business which can elevate their living standards, however, the project is somewhat risky and requires both parties to suspend some of the current spending habits which they may have grown accustomed to.   Would our women support this venture or would they cry their spouse into forgetting the idea?
